Student profile pictures display upside down or sideways

Profile pictures uploaded by students display with incorrect orientation on the website: some appear upside down and others sideways. The issue started in March and affects pictures taken with the front-facing camera on school iPads; deleting and retaking the photos with a different camera orientation does not fix it. Support replicated this issue and determined it happens when you use the camera option directly instead of taking a photo, saving it and uploading it to your profile.
