Service Base Learning (SBL)

I'd like to suggest a new section within the platform — a "Service Based Learning" (SBL) section — to cover two related situations that don't fit the current coordinator-placed internship model, but that we still want to track for WBL credit or an employment/enlistment seal.

1. Self-placed student jobs

Some students don't have an internship placement but already have a job on their own, typically on weekends or after school. We want their hours to count, but they don't need coordinator site visits the way a placed internship does — it's an existing job they found themselves.

2. Volunteering / community service

Service-based learning integrates meaningful service with academic study, teaches civic and personal responsibility and other employability skills, and strengthens communities. It's generally defined by three indicators: (1) integration of academic study with the service experience, (2) connection to larger social, economic, or societal issues, and (3) collaboration between students, schools, an
