Currently, there is not a standardized way for a student to even list who a WBL coordinator could contact to verify self reported hours. Also, as it is now, the student just types an employer/organization name and then the Coordinator has to try to match to an existing record. A match is suggested, but if the employer is new, it will always be matched with an incorrect employer until the Coordinator creates a new employer and then changes the suggested match. If they don’t pay close attention and just click approve, the hours will be associated with the wrong employer.
Ideally, students should be shown a select2 with a list of known employers to choose from. If the organization is not shown, choose Other/Unlisted and then they can type the name of the employer. This will eliminate the need to have the coordinator match the employer unless it is new.
If the student selects an existing employer, we can then show a select2 with known contacts that they can select from as well. There would also be an Other/Unlisted option that would allow the student to enter a first name, last name, email, and phone number.
Only when the employer and/or contact is new would the coordinator need to approve them, but it would probably be fine to just auto add them with a check/warning if a potential duplicate exists.
