I’d like to filter students by their year in my program, since a senior can be a first-year welding student. I’d also like to see each student’s program completion percentage, add an N/A option to the 1–4 scale, and have bulk grading fill only blank grades so it preserves scores I’ve already entered.

I teach Welding and Fabrication, and I have first-, second-, and third-year students in the same class. Four changes to JobReady360 would help me assign the right work, track progress, and avoid grading mistakes.

  • Filter students by year in my program. A senior can walk into my shop for the first time and work alongside another senior who has been welding with me for three years. I’d like to filter my roster by first, second, or third year in Welding and Fabrication, independently of grade level or total time at the technical school. I’d also like to use that filter when assigning tasks or entering bulk grades.

  • Show each student’s overall program completion. On the student profile, show the number and percentage of required program tasks the student has completed. For example, “48 of 120 tasks completed (40%).” That gives the student and me a quick way to see how far they’ve worked through the program.

  • Add an N/A option alongside the 1–4 scale. When I bulk grade a mixed-level class, I’d like to mark N/A for students the task doesn’t apply to. N/A should carry no score and should never count against the student’s grade.

  • Add a “Fill blank grades only” option. If I’ve already scored three students individually, I’d like to enter a bulk grade for the rest of the group while preserving those three scores. I can enter individual scores afterward, but sometimes I’ve already graded students as they finished in the shop. This option would prevent an accidental overwrite and save me from having to reconstruct their original scores.

Thanks for your feedback. I’ll address each below.

    • Filter students by year in my program.

      • This can already be done. Simply create a Student Group for each level and assign the appropriate students.

    • Show each student’s overall program completion.

      • I like the idea of showing additional information about the percentage of completion (ex. “48 of 120 tasks completed (40%).”) I’ll create a separate feature request for this.

    • Add an N/A option alongside the 1–4 scale.

      • This is doable, but will affect the entire school. Your administrator have the ability to modify Grade Scales. If they are in agreement, they can add the N/A option.

    • Add a “Fill blank grades only” option.

      • This is also a good idea. I’ll create a separate feature suggestion for this as well. However, you can select which students you want to apply the bulk grades to instead of the default of all students.
