Community Service / Job Shadows - Allow students to self-report WBL Hours without having a prior WBL Experience

https://www.socialstudies.org/advocacy/ncss-seal-civic-readiness-toolkit/seal-civic-readiness-frequently-asked-questions

Currently, five states use diploma seals for civics - Arizona, California, Georgia, New York, and Virginia. Most of these schools use a platform called Passport for Good to track these hours but this could easily be tracked in Jobready / CTE-360. The key difference is that students should be able to document their own experience/hours. They could either choose an existing employer/contact or add their own and then ask that they verify the hours. For instance, a student may volunteer at their church or a fire department. They should be able to self report this without the need to initial approval.

Create a new WBL type for self-reportable. Allow those items to be dragged onto the calendar and the management side has all of the approval and rejection metrics. Maybe have it categorized by student with all unapproved viewable and one button to approval all for one student.

Another use case for this is a student reporting job shadows. The current options of using an event or student-based experience arenโ€™t really a great fit. It would be best if the student could self-report without the need for a coordinator to first create an experience.

Final thought (hopefully), when reporting this on existing and future reports, separate the hours that were self reported and the hours that were part of an administrative experience or event so they can be differentiated in case they are not related to or do not qualify as WBL hours.

We need to also add a way to view this data administratively (not reports). If the student drags a work log onto the calendar for an experience that administration set up, you can see all of those records attached to that. Doing it this way there is no entity that it attaches to so we need to make sure it's easily obtainable.

For instance, a student does community service over the weekend or volunteers. They self-report that it happened. Then in order to approve this, they would have a special form for these types of events that need to be completed in order to be approved. This could have static signers or any other types like all the rest of the forms in the system. You could also add a dynamic signer in there to get the signature from the person they did the event with. Drag this type onto the calendar, specify the WBL type, submit form. Bingo bongo, done.

Donโ€™t require a form. Require WBL coordinator verification. Maybe allow the coordinator to send a communication to the student easily to get more info. Really aything but a form.
