Add "Parent" as an Advisory Member Representative Type

As a user in Michigan, our state requires a parent to be part of our advisory board. I would like the ability to add "Parent" as a specific representative type in the dropdown menu for advisory members to meet this requirement.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for adding this. Here is some info detailing more specifically who we have on our boards. Any questions, let me know.

    A Michigan CTE advisory board must include representatives from the appropriate program-specific business, industry, a postsecondary partner, and a parent. The committee should also strive for diversity in gender and race/ethnicity. Additional members can include school staff, community members, and students.

    Required members

    • Business and Industry: At least one member with successful, first-hand employment experience in the specific field of the CTE program. A chairperson from business or industry is also required.

    • Postsecondary Partner: A representative from a college or university, ideally the same one that partners with the program.

    • Parent Representative: A parent or guardian of a student in the program or community.

    Recommended members

    • CTE and/or school administrators

    • CTE instructors

    • Community members

    • Students

    • School board members

    • Local legislative representatives

    • Counselors

    • Academic teachers

    • SPOPS coordinator
