Add a way for a student to scan a badge, select a task, and start a timer on that task

How do you prevent a student from scanning another student’s badge? Is this part of the app where they have to be authenticated to scan then we use app security to determine access to student? Is this an opportunity for us to add a student badge scanner for administration to see information about the student from the app with a simple scan?
