Since most accommodations/adaptations will be the same for any lesson plan, it would save a lot of time if these could be a multi-select option. We could provide the options and/or allow the schools to build their own.
Examples of common options are:
Differentiated Instruction: Adapt content, process, and product to meet diverse learning needs.
Chunking Information: Break tasks into smaller, manageable steps.
Explicit Instruction: Use clear, direct teaching with modeling and guided practice.
Pre-Teaching: Introduce key concepts and vocabulary before lessons.
Visual Aids and Graphic Organizers: Use visuals and templates to support learning.
Preferential Seating: Place students near the teacher or away from distractions.
Quiet Area: Provide a space for calming or sensory breaks.
Flexible Seating: Offer seating options like standing desks or sensory chairs.
Extended Time: Provide additional time for tests and assignments.
Alternative Assessments: Use oral presentations, portfolios, or projects instead of traditional tests.
Reduced Workload: Adjust the number of tasks or questions required.
Assistive Technology: Allow the use of tools like text-to-speech, audiobooks, or speech-to-text software.
Highlighted or Simplified Text: Emphasize key concepts or simplify reading materials.
Positive Reinforcement: Use rewards and praise to encourage desired behavior.
Frequent Breaks: Allow short movement or sensory breaks.
Peer Buddies or Paraprofessionals: Provide social or academic assistance through peer or adult support.
Regular Check-Ins: Monitor understanding, engagement, and behavior frequently.
